Keep it calm keep it cool, Nyquist one!
Doug O'Neil finally got his redemption and yaku yatta to Mario Gutirrez for a flawless journey! :D

Bonzai bonzai!
I was watching! Gotta say I'm surprised and impressed; makes me happy that Uncle Mo got a Derby winner in his first crop!! I think Exaggerator will be one to watch out for if he makes it to the Belmont!

Congrats and your 400 points have been sent! I'm already excited for the Preakness!
LOL! Me too! The moment he crossed the line I did a excitable YES! And yeah I know favorites are more of a score on previous victory races and a glimmer of hope/gamble but its amazing to see them actually achieve it :D

(I think I mentioned that I was a spiritualist. Before the race, I had a case of my led pencil filler fall off my bed and hit the floor and well..it stood up on its side (Its tiny, thin and rectangular.) I look for signs for many that I've come across were always a beacon of something negative or positive. So I'm a believer that and having contacted a psychic years ago she said I may have potential as to being a psychic O.o-still freaked out over it but...

Anywho, I know we al press on predigree but truly its a gamble and I find myself it still to be a long shot no matter the background.
Some just shine beautifully just like some people can.

And yeah I was thinking the same as to comeptitives. I always look for those whom give a derby winner a pace of head to head fight. They all displayed a lot of fight to me so I can say a horse whom makes a derby winner fight to get to the cross line is certainly competition :)
The jockeys have to stick to how they know how to handle the horse and use their precise judgment. A jockeys life is admirable and tough, a life style where you have to be talented and reputable. I been having more and more respect for these guys!!

I'm even more proud for Doug and hope he can find himself with Nyquist close to prevailing a triple crown winner and to at least not have his horse scratched as I'll have another.

I only wish to be in Baltimore for the Preakness *.* and double that I'm excited already and know its going to be a fight should all horses be sound and ready. ^.^(I had bet on American Pharaoh, last year and I still watch all three races and get this ever lasting jolt of exciting-which is rare for me to contain it after I now what's gong to happen :)

And DAHH, thank you so much! I appreciate in having a bet with a horse owner and enthusiast! (and I've ever gambled in my life XD So I'm grateful for the opportunity! Arigato gozaimus!)

I certainly look foreword to the next race!
The science of pedigrees has always fascinated me, and I've always put more stock in broodmares than stallions. Which is why I have such great respect for the Phipps family. They have had some of the greatest broodmares of all time, and to be family owned? That's just icing on the cake lol I knew with Forestry and Seeking the Gold he should at least be able to get 9-9.5 furlongs, but 10 furlongs is a tough task for any horse these days. Back to pedigrees though, that back class influence is certainly a neat topic to explore. For example: everyone thought Secretariat couldn't get the distance due to Bold Ruler being his sire. Yet Princequillo on bottom gave him the stamina he needed; perhaps Seeking the Gold's influence is strong enough to support the speed of Uncle Mo. Fun fact: Seeking the Gold was a Phipps homebred!

Jockeys don't have easy lives by any stretch of the imagination. The New York Times did an amazing look into the life of a jockey. The winningest jockey in American history to be exact: Russell Baze. Here's a link to the piece; if you haven't seen it before I'm sure you'll find it fascinating. www.nytimes.com/projects/2013/…

I'll Have Another was a crushing blow for me. I followed Lava Man's career and he was such an amazing horse for Doug, and it was wonderful to see a horse with the potential for the Triple Crown and have that hope. Unfortunately it was snatched away before he could ever compete; much like another favorite of mine Eskendereya. The only thing that leaves a sour note in my mouth is selling him to Japan. I have nothing against him going to Japan because they have bent over backwards to repair the damage of the fallout of Ferdinand, but a Derby/Preakness winner with such a nice pedigree as his will never get a chance to see how his babies would do on American soil. That to me is sad, but the bloodstock market will be the bloodstock market and it is a business first and foremost.

I watched Pharoah's BC Classic win yesterday and I still get goosebumps up and down my arms. He was such a phenomenal horse; I knew as soon as the rain started at Pimlico nobody was going to catch him!

You're welcome!! I always enjoy friendly wagers; especially during Triple Crown season ^.^ lol

I'm at quite the quandary this Triple Crown season. After having a Triple Crown winner last year I feel like I don't want one this year. Which is odd to say the least lol I'm no less excited for the races, but I know anything immediately after Pharoah will be scrutinized harshly. Instead of basking in the joy of another winner, we'll be looking through rose-tinted glasses and forever comparing two completely different horses. It's like people arguing over who is better: Rachel or Zenyatta? Chrome or Pharoah? Two horses who will never meet on the track will be thrown through the ringer. Not that they will ever know; they're too busy living the good life! lol
Thank you for the watch!
Thanks for the watch! :)
